1. What WriteFlow does

WriteFlow AI is a browser extension with three parts:

• Writing help in text boxes on the web. It rewrites, drafts and replies to posts, comments, emails and chats.
• A prompt helper in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. It checks prompts, improves them with ✨ Improve, runs simple tasks on your device and gives model advice.
• The Review Workspace, a page inside the extension for saving, comparing and deciding on answers.

It uses an AI provider you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq or OpenRouter) with your own API key. A built-in Mock provider lets you try everything without a key, and it sends nothing anywhere.

2. What it reads, and when

• The text box you open WriteFlow on. WriteFlow reads it when you click the W button or use a shortcut. It never reads password, payment or other sensitive fields.
• What you're replying to. For replies, it reads the post, comment, email thread or chat messages linked to that box. If a social site's layout hides the post, it reads the visible words next to the reply box instead (at most 1,500 characters). It never reads past a pop-up, and never from a feed that shows several posts. It then shows you what it read as Replying to (read from the page), and you can edit it before anything is sent.
• Your draft prompt in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. WriteFlow checks it on your device while you type, to offer suggestions and estimate size. It also estimates how long the visible conversation is, on your device. Nothing leaves your device unless you click an action that uses your AI provider, such as ✨ Improve or Continue in a new chat.
• Text you select and save with the right-click Save selection to Review item. WriteFlow also saves the page's title and web address, without query strings or fragments.

WriteFlow does not read your browsing history, and does nothing on a site until you use it there.

3. What is stored, and where

Nearly everything is kept in the browser's local extension storage or the extension's local database (IndexedDB) on this device. The one exception is the free-Improve counter, described in the table.

Text you're working on and the post you're replying to are kept in memory only while the panel is open. They are not saved, unless you save them to the Review Workspace yourself.

4. What is sent, and to whom

Your AI provider, only when you ask for a result

When you click a WriteFlow action that uses AI, your browser sends the request straight to the provider you set up, using your key. Actions include Rewrite, a reply style, Write It For Me, ✨ Improve, Continue in a new chat and Ask AI in the Workspace. The request contains:

• the text you're working on, or your prompt;
• for replies, what you're replying to (as shown in the panel);
• your writing samples or style notes, if you set them;
• the instruction for the action you chose.

Endpoints: api.openai.com, api.anthropic.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com, api.groq.com, openrouter.ai. WriteFlow doesn't route, log or see this traffic. Your provider's own privacy policy and terms apply to what it receives.

Gumroad, only for a Pro licence

If you enter a Pro licence key, WriteFlow sends it to Gumroad (api.gumroad.com) to verify it, then re-checks it at most once a week. A re-check doesn't count as a licence use. If a check fails because you're offline, you keep Pro.

Your browser's sync service

If browser sync is turned on, the free-Improve counter (numbers and dates only) syncs through your Google or Microsoft account like any extension's sync storage. Nothing else WriteFlow stores is synced.

That's the complete list. WriteFlow sends nothing to any server run by WriteFlow, because none exists.

5. What WriteFlow never does

• Sell your data, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• Use your data for advertising, credit decisions, or anything unrelated to the features you use.
• Let people read your data. The only exception is the AI provider you choose, which receives what you ask it to process.
• Collect analytics or telemetry off your device, or track your browsing.
• Post, send or submit anything for you. Every result waits for you to choose Use it, Insert, Replace or Copy, and prompts in AI chats are never sent for you.
• Switch your AI model without showing you. Automatic model routing is off unless you turn it on.
• Load code from the internet. All of WriteFlow's code ships inside the extension.

6. Permissions and why

• Access to supported sites (email, social and chat sites, and ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini): to show the WriteFlow button beside text boxes there. Any other site is added only if you turn it on from the popup, one site at a time.
• Access to your AI provider's API and to Gumroad: to send the requests you ask for and to verify a Pro licence.
• storage: to keep your settings on your device, and the free-Improve counter in sync storage.
• scripting: used only when you click Enable WriteFlow here, to add WriteFlow to that one site.
• contextMenus: adds Save selection to Review to the right-click menu.

7. Your controls

• Turn WriteFlow off on a site: in the popup, or in Settings → Disabled Sites.
• Delete all local data: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete all local data clears your key, settings, samples, feedback, licence and disabled sites.
• Clear the usage log: Settings → Clear local log.
• Edit or remove saved context: in Settings.
• Review Workspace: its data stays in the extension's local database until you uninstall. Use Export first if you want a copy.
• Free-Improve counter: stays in sync storage so the free allowance can't be reset by reinstalling. It holds no text. Clearing your browser's synced data removes it.
• Uninstall: removes WriteFlow's local data from this browser.

8. Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons policies

WriteFlow's use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and the Microsoft Edge Add-ons policies. Data is used only to provide the features you use. It is sent only to the AI provider you choose, and a licence key only to Gumroad. It is never sold or transferred for any other purpose.

9. Children

WriteFlow is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes and contact

If the way WriteFlow handles data changes, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
